Our concern
Critical Post-War Health Challenges for Children
1. War Injuries: Official reports indicate that 20% of war-related injuries treated at Bashair Hospital are children under 15, many requiring advanced surgeries currently unavailable.
2. Malnutrition: Over 5000 children at Bashair were diagnosed with severe acute malnutrition in late 2022 alone—a crisis exacerbated by food insecurity and maternal malnutrition.
3. Neonatal and Maternal Mortality: Sudan’s maternal mortality rates were among the world’s highest pre-war. With 80% of hospitals in conflict zones closed, newborns and mothers face life-threatening complications.
